Now more than ever, humans have a critical need to innovate and access alternate modes of thinking to succeed in the world today. A 2019 LinkedIn Study showed that for the first time ever, creativity is not only on the list, but the most desired soft-skill in the United States. It’s not just employers who are turned on to this insight, but also educators and entrepreneurs who appreciate the escalating value of human creativity in a world where technology is poised to transform the future of work.
Creativity is defined as the generation and imagination of ideas, connections, and content that is novel and fresh. It is not restricted to those in artistic professions, but available to every human being that lives. Creativity is within each of us, yet why do so many of us struggle to access the source of our unique ingenuity? The status quo is an overpowering thing!
In this 3-week workshop series, Jyoti Patel, creative facilitator, will walk you through a human centered design approach that will guide you to capture the power of your imagination with purpose, courage, and clarity, and ultimately, bring more creative power to your life and work.
Expect an interactive format, where educational presentation will alternate with discussion and playful breakout activities, plus you will get to know your fellow learners in a high trust environment. Your experience will include Lego® Serious Play®, a visual communication medium that helps you build, explore, and share stories in 4D, and is taking the world by storm for its ability to foster meaningful conversations that are centered around the human experience.
Week 1. Overcoming your creative blocks
Face your fears. Learn how to get unstuck.
The fear of failure or imperfection can paralyze the most brilliant of minds. In an attempt to be great, we can fail to be anything. Stoked by a need for external validation, achievers can sometimes overthink the creative process, which by its very nature, is messy and wrought with failures. In this workshop, learn how a fear of judgement, perfectionism, or a need to conform can inhibit honest communication and innovation, and discover how to overcome it. Learn how negative self-talk can invade your mind, where it comes from, how it can prevent you from authentically showing up, and most importantly, pick up tools to help you overcome this barrier to being your best, most successful, self.
Week 2. Tell your compelling story
Connect to your source of inspiration. Articulate your wildest dreams.
Creativity is a process that begins in the depths of our subconscious minds and manifests as how we should up in world through various forms of expression. When we are in a creative state of flow, ideas flow forth from our internal wellspring of passion. In this workshop, renew your deepest sense of purpose and channel it towards your boldest desires. Then, unleash your imagination to create a depiction of the most creative version of your future self and articulate your story with courage and conviction. This compelling emotive vision will serve to guide your creative efforts.
Week 3. Creative habits for mindset disruption
Cultivate your creative seeds with simple habits.
After glimpsing the limitless potential of your creative mind, you will want to access your creative power at will. The beauty of the creative habit is that it’s pleasurable and regenerative. In this third and final workshop, you will develop a radically simple creativity habit that aligns with your source of creative drive and your personal vision of success. Learn about the myriad of ways that a creative mindset can be nurtured and choose a method that you can get excited about. Discover how to nurture creativity-enhancing values through your habit, including empathy, confidence, optimism, and embracing ambiguity. You will understand that progress need not be a struggle when it comes to creativity, and how inspired pleasure can nourish, rather than diminish your energy.
